Council

The Council is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the BWF, as well as the oversight of its management and corporate performance in accordance with the BWF’s Strategic Plan.

The BWF held elections for the positions of President, Deputy President, Vice President Para Badminton and 20 Council member positions on 26 April 2025, in Xiamen China. Those elected serve a four year term (2025 – 2029). Elections for the Athletes’ Commission and Para Badminton Commission in October / November 2025, and the Chair of these newly elected Commissions servce of the Council for four years to 2029.

The five BWF Continental Vice Presidents (Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, Pan America) have elections in 2027.
